Finance Minister Simon Hamilton MLA has outlined how the Northern Ireland Executive's £1billion spend on capital projects next year will encourage growth in the construction industry.
The Minister was speaking to over 150 members at the Chartered Institute of Building's annual dinner in Belfast.
The Chartered Institute of Building, established in 1834, is the world's largest professional body for construction management and leadership with members working worldwide in the development, conservation and improvement of the built environment.
Minister Hamilton said: "The Northern Ireland Executive will start the next financial year with a capital budget of over £1billion; a huge budget which will provide welcome business opportunities for many in the local construction industry.
"While the construction industry has faced significant challenges over the last few years many local building companies have demonstrated great versatility and resilience in surviving the economic storm. Increasing numbers have won major projects in Great Britain and beyond."
