Minister for Education and Skills, Ruairí Quinn TD, has officially opened an extension and new General Purpose Hall, at Fenor N.S, Tramore, Co Waterford.
The Department had provided Fenor NS more than €500,000 under the Prefab Replacement Initiative 2012 for the replacement of three mainstream classrooms, four resource rooms and a staffroom with a permanent building.
There are 212 students enrolled at the school with nine teachers and four Resource/Learning Support teachers and four Special Needs Assistants on staff.
Speaking at the school, the Minister said: "I'm delighted to be here to open this new extension to the school building. I have no doubt that the additional facilities will benefit all in the area.
"I am particularly pleased to see that students in the school now have high quality accommodation, instead of prefabs, in which to learn. Fenor NS is one of 137 number of schools which has so far benefitted from the Prefab Replacement Initiative."
