SDLP MLA for Mid Ulster and Chair of the ETI Committee and Chair of the All Party Working Group on Construction, Patsy McGlone has called for clarity following speculation that the consortium appointed to build a new police training college at Desertcreat near Cookstown may have pulled out of the project.
Mr McGlone said: "This news is of great concern to contractors, builders, suppliers and others in the region.
"The project would help to create jobs in the North and bring economic activity to the mid Ulster area. It would be bad news for local businesses if the consortium has now pulled out.
"It was only last week that there was a 'meet the buyer' event in Cookstown which allowed businesses to meet the contractor and showcase their work and services. That too raised expectations that the project was progressing well.
"As Chair of the Enterprise, Trade and Investment committee and a member of the Justice Committee I have proposed that both hold an urgent joint meeting with the project management board to discuss the future of the venture next week. Both committees have now agreed to that proposal."
