Foyle Food Group Fined For Breach Of Pollution Permit

Foyle Food Group was convicted of breaching its' Pollution Prevention and Control Permit at L'Derry Magistrates' Court.

he company pleaded guilty and was fined £750 plus court costs of £20.

The breach related to the Foyle Proteins rendering plant at Lisahally. On 13 March 2012, an NIEA inspector found that a large quantity of animal by products had been spilled below the raw material reception area in the plant, which was contrary to the requirements of the permit.

Despite this the plant kept operating and processing more material.
