Transport Minister Danny Kennedy has announced that an £80,000 improvement scheme on the approach to Gelvin Bridge near Dungiven is now underway.
The scheme, on the B64 Legavallon Road, will provide new verges and safety barriers.
Mr Kennedy said: "This scheme will help improve road safety, particularly for drivers approaching the Gelvin Bridge.
"The first stage of the work is currently underway to rebuild the parapets of the bridge and the scheme is expected to be completed by mid-April."
Roads Service has planned the improvements to keep delays to a minimum, however, road users should expect some delays and are advised to allow additional time when travelling in the area.
