New Facilities For St Columb's College Welcomed

SDLP Ballyarnett candidate Colm O'Connor has welcomed confirmation that St Columb's College is to be granted an estimated £2.2m in funding to develop new facilities.

The Buncrana Road college is one of 51 projects included in the School Enhancement Programme and is due to receive the grant aid to fund the building of new sports facilities and the conversion of existing accommodation to a drama suite.

Welcoming confirmation of the funding, past pupil and SDLP Derry and Strabane District Council candidate, Colm O'Connor said it would ensure the St Columb's College continues to build on its excellent reputation.

He said: "I am delighted to hear my former school, St Columb's College, will be included in the School Enhancement Programme.

"New build sports facilities will further develop St Columb's reputation as a highly successful school across various sports.

"A new Drama Suite will provide another avenue for Derry's young artistic talent to grow.

"The projects will also help create jobs through the development of the facilities."
