Social Development Minister Nelson McCausland has announced an investment of £210,000 to upgrade footways and carriageways at Lone Moor Road and Stanley's Walk in the Brandywell area of L'Derry.
Announcing the funding, Minister McCausland said: "This investment of £210,000, by the Northern Ireland Executive through my Department, will enable the footways and carriageways in the Brandywell area of Londonderry to be upgraded.
"The work, which will be carried out by colleagues in the Department for Regional Development, will enhance both the Lone Moor Road and Stanley's Walk. Work is due to begin in early May 2014 and will be completed within six weeks."
Explaining the need for the scheme, the Minister said: "While the Lone Moor Road is an important arterial route linking the Letterkenny Road to the rest of the city, it is visually unattractive and the streetscapes are clearly in need of repair.
"These works will make the area more user friendly particularly for people with disabilities. This work will build on the projects already completed by my Department in partnership with the Department for Regional Development including the upgrade of the Lecky Road Flyover and Rossville Street."
