Some 80 jobs are to be saved after it was revealed that a buyer has been found for the Kilkenny River Court Hotel.
According to reports, the premises have been purchased for €9m by The Neville Group – the Wexford-based hotel and construction firm.
The four-star hotel went into liquidation in 2012 and KPMG was subsequently responsible for finding a buyer for the property. It was put up for sale by private treaty in October 2013 with a guide price of €7.5m.
The Neville Group currently owns two other hotels – the Royal Marine in Dun Laoghaire, Co Dublin and the Riverside Hotel in Enniscorthy, Co Wexford. The River Court Hotel will be run by directors Seamus, Brendan and Therese Neville.
It is thought staff numbers will remain the same, while a full refurbishment of the project is planned to take place over the next 18 months.
