SDLP Strabane Councillor Patsy Kelly has slammed the Housing Executive for what he says are "unacceptable delays" in addressing hundreds of jobs reportedly outstanding on properties in Strabane town and district.
Cllr Kelly said: "I raised this issue in January when I spoke with a number of residents frustrated and fed up at delays by the HE in tackling maintenance jobs and repair work on properties where they are living that were outstanding. Five months on and the situation appears to remain and, in fact, from what I understand it seems to have becomes worse.
"I have called on the housing minister, Nelson McCausland and the Housing Executive to explain why the delays are continuing. Residents deserve to live in properties that are up to standard and that are fitting of a place to call home."
