A funding package has been announced to refurbish a studio in L'Derry.

Alpha Glass Studio, next to the historic City Walls, has previously been used as a glass making workshop for Alpha. The firm are the current owners of the building and the £547,000 fund will bring it back into use. Shop units will be located on the ground floor and apartments on the top floor.

Environment Minister Mark H Durkan said the funding is a "significant boost for Derry's built heritage".

He added: "The ongoing work being carried out to renovate the Coyle Building will both promote commercial and residential opportunities within the city centre. Crucially, the renovation will ensure the ongoing use of this significant building, which is located within the Historic City Conservation Area."
