Labour has called for people in Dublin local authorities not to be discriminated because they raise more property tax for rural councils.
Labour TD, Robert Dowds, said South Dublin County Council, should not be deprived of vital supports because it raises more money.
Mr Dowds said: "A much higher proportion of those in need of social or emergency housing accommodation are in the Dublin area than elsewhere. For example, nearly 50 families in South Dublin are waiting for emergency accommodation. Most of them are living in hotels, no place for a child to grow up. There is a real crisis happening at the moment and any attempt to cut funding from government should be strongly avoided."
