Phase one of the Ballyleague riverbank development in Shannon can now go-ahead thanks to €60,000 in Inland Fisheries Ireland (IFI) funding.
The phase works include a new quay wall and perimeter fence, a new pathway and stands for disabled anglers.
Fine Gael TD for Roscommon/South Leitrim, Frank Feighan, said the appointed contractors are preparing to start work next week.
Phase two of the development is to include a range of other amenities such as a playground and outside gym.
