The closing date for submissions to the Government's Energy Policy Green Paper for Ireland is fast approaching.
Those interested are being urged to get their submissions in before the closing date, Thursday 31 July.
Labour TD, Michael McCarthy, said: "The Green Paper is a precursor to a White Paper that will follow and which will seek to define Irish energy policy for the coming years. The publication of the Green Paper has been welcomed as an important step in the future development of Irish energy policy.
"The Green Paper comes seven years after the 2007 Energy Policy Paper, 'Delivering a Sustainable Energy Policy for Ireland'. Much as happened in the interim, including the publication of the heads of the Climate Change Bill.
"It is timely that we now take stock and question the reasoning behind our energy policy approaches. There is a genuine need to reconcile our energy policy with our climate change obligations. Ireland is committed to produce 16% of all energy consumed from sources other than fossil fuels by 2020."
