Environment Minister Mark H Durkan has been given a tour of the Carnbrae Way site by developers The Hill Partnership.
Planning permission for the development was approved in May this year.
Investing £47m in Newry, the regeneration of the 15-hectare site will see an additional £6.9m in wages injected annually into the local economy.
"We were delighted to provide the Minister with a detailed progress report on all elements of the scheme including the valuable economic and community aspects of the project," said Neil Armstrong of the Hill Partnership. "Planning for the work phases is almost complete and we're looking forward to getting on site to begin a development that underpins a strong economic future for Newry and its environs."
