More than £100,000 has been invested in Northern Ireland Electricity's (NIE) Campsie apprentice training school.
Three transmission towers have been built, making it the first transmission training school in Northern Ireland.
The towers measure up to 12.3 metres in height and will enable apprentices, transmission engineers and contractors to practise working on transmission towers. The Campsie training school is where the apprentices train to work on the overhead line network.
Raymond McMenemey, NIE Training Manager is delighted to see the transmission towers built, he says: "The new towers are an exciting addition to our overhead training school. Working on transmission towers is highly specialised work and practise usually occurs on live jobs or when there are outages so it can be quite difficult. Our apprentices can now practise in a safe and controlled environment."
