More than £53,000 funding has been allocated to L'Derry City Council for the 'Pride In Our City' scheme.
The funding will be used to provide the materials required to soft landscape the Culmore and Ballyarnet roundabouts located on main arterial routes into the city, as well as purchase additional barrier planters, bulbs and shrubs for the city centre.
The project will be delivered by the Grounds Maintenance Department of the City Council of Londonderry.
Mayor Councillor Brenda Stevenson said that due to significant funding from the Department, the city, and in particular the Quayside area, have never looked so good.
Mayor Stevenson said: "Over the summer months and following on from the phenomenal success of the LegenDerry Maritime Festival as hosts of the Clipper Race yachts, we have welcomed thousands of international visitors to the city.
"In particular, the Quay walkway area was transformed by the work of Derry City Council's ground maintenance and cleansing team who worked to ensure that the floral displays where in place and blooming bright and colourful.
"The landscaping and planting that has been carried out at a number of roundabouts is significant in adding to the transformation of the city and providing a landscaped beautiful city for locals and visitors alike. The continuation of support from the Department for Social Development this year and previous years in enabling this work is as always very much appreciated."
