A lorry has overturned on the access road at the entrance of the proposed Poolbeg Incinerator site.
No-one was injured in the incident which occurred on Tuesday.
However, the Green Party has hit out following the incident, claiming that "this is the wrong site".
Cllr Claire Byrne, representative for Pembroke - South Dock, said: "Yesterday's crash only goes to show the folly of sending hundreds of trucks a day down this road. Hopefully the City Manager, Owen Keegan, now acknowledges the dangerous situation that is developing.
"The Green Party have made a number of objections to the location and scale of the incinerator project, as well as the costs which will have to be borne by householders and businesses, the questionable environmental benefits, the threat that the incinerator poses to the domestic recycling industry, and the unsuitability of the Poolbeg area to handle the increased construction and waste delivery and removal traffic."
