Funding has been approved for work to be carried out at two schools in Roscommon and Taughmaconnell.
Electrical works are to be carried out at St Ronan's National School, while roof repairs to be undertaken at the Convent of Mercy Secondary School.
Fine Gael candidate in the Roscommon/South Leitrim bye-election, Councillor Maura Hopkins, said: "I'm very pleased that funding has been approved for electrical works to be carried out at St Ronan's National School and roof repairs to be undertaken at the Convent of Mercy Secondary School.
"The allocations for both schools have been sanctioned by the School Building Unit at the Department of Education.
"These monies will now enable the necessary works to proceed once the respective tendering processes have been completed."
