Fine Gael has slammed Fianna Fáil for failing to offer any clarity to Irish people on its position on the Local Property Tax (LPT).
Fine Gael TD for Dublin Fingal, Alan Farrell, is calling on Fianna Fáil to clarify its position on Local Property Tax ahead of next week's Budget.
Mr Farrell said: "Fianna Fáil has failed to offer any clarity to the Irish people on its position on Local Property Tax and must now come clean, ahead of the Dublin South West and Roscommon South Leitrim by-elections.
"Fianna Fáil has still not published its budget proposals despite the fact that the Budget is on Tuesday next. Its Finance Spokesperson, Michael McGrath seemed to accept the Government's position on Local Property Tax on last night's Prime Time. He confirmed the party has made no provision in its budget proposals to make changes to the application of property tax.
"It is never easy to introduce new taxes but this Government has made tough decisions and implemented the Local Property Tax. Our plan for economic recovery is working and the country is now moving in the right direction. Our economy is now one of the fastest growing in Europe because we took decisive action to deal with the catastrophic economic collapse caused by Fianna Fáil."
