Planning has been approved for the redevelopment of an existing open space in Strathfoyle, Northern Ireland.

Environment Minister Mark H Durkan welcomed the news and said it will involve the redevelopment of existing open space adjacent to the existing Strathfoyle Pitches.

Mr Durkan said: "This is welcome news for Strathfoyle and the proposal will provide an essential community facility in the heart of the village. It will provide state- of-the-art playing facilities for toddlers and juniors and will be of particular benefit to those with young children in the village. The work will also bring construction jobs in the short term, and revitalise an area of open space."
