Homelessness in Northern Ireland has increased according to a report published by the Department for Social Development (DSD) today.
The 'Northern Ireland Housing Bulletin April' said in total, 4,895 households presented themselves as homeless to the Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE) during April to June 2014. This is an increase of 155 (3%) from the previous quarter.
The number of households accepted by the NIHE as full duty applicants for the quarter April to June 2014 was 2,221, a decrease of 9% compared to the previous quarter.
During the quarter ending 31 March 2014, 266 new National House Building Council (NHBC) registered dwellings were sold, an increase of 15% on the same period in 2013.
