The Department for Social Development (DSD) has donated £150,000 to the Council for the Homeless (CHNI).
Social Development Minister Mervyn Storey confirmed the DSD has given £33m to homeless related services this year.
Minister Storey said: "The term homelessness is often thought to describe those sleeping on our streets but it also applies to those who may have a roof over their head such as those living in hostel accommodation or with friends or family.
"Whatever the circumstances, it is an incredibly difficult and unsettling time and can have significant long terms effects on an individual's future wellbeing.
"In addition, the Council for the Homeless will, on my behalf, distribute £150,000 to a wide range of organisations supporting homeless people in Northern Ireland. This funding will assist in making life a little happier for homeless people over the Christmas period."
