Fianna Fáil has expressed serious concerns over the homeless crisis in Dublin.
Environment Spokesperson Barry Cowen is to raise the issue with Minister Alan Kelly today, following the death of a homeless man on Molesworth Street yesterday, 1 December.
Mr Cowen said: "I want to express my sympathy on the passing of a homeless man this morning outside Leinster House. Dying on the streets is not a dignified and proper way for anyone to pass away. Happening in the shadow of the national parliament it is a sharp reminder of the scale of the problem we face as a country. As TDs, Senators and staff walked into work this morning they were faced with a very real example of just how bad the problem has become in Dublin and in other cities across Ireland.
"The sad discovery on the doorstep of the national parliament should be a wakeup call to all of us who work here in Leinster House about the pressing need to take action on homelessness."
