Dale Farm Investment Held Back Due To Lack Of Energy Supply

A £40m investment to Dale Farm's Cookstown facility is being held back because of the lack of energy supply.

Sinn Féin is seeking an urgent meeting with Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster to discuss the current situation.

Mid Ulster MP Francie Molloy said: "I was astounded to hear David Dobbin, chief executive of Dale Farm, say his firm wanted to invest £40m in a project in Cookstown, County Tyrone.

"However, he could not proceed because neither the correct electricity or gas facilities are in place. It is also totally unacceptable that electricity provider NIE has suggested to Dale Farm to move their project east of the Bann.

"The constituencies west of the Bann, which we represent, are already suffering from decades of discrimination and underinvestment. The minister must act now. Along with NIE, gas providers and Invest NI she needs to ensure that companies have proper access to energy in order to attract investment."
