The European Council is to discuss a major road improvement project for the Naas area today, 19th December.
Fine Gael TD for Kildare North, Anthony Lawlor, has spoken to the Taoiseach about the importance of the Sallins Bypass/ Osberstown Interchange and the M7 widening for Kildare.
Mr Lawlor said: "To get these projects over the line would be great for local people and businesses alike. Congestion in the Naas area has reached unsustainable levels and something must be done.
"The Government has put these crucial road projects on the list for EU funding as part of an overall wish list of strategic projects amounting to €23 million. Also included is the proposed widening of the M7 Naas- Newbridge bypass. The funding would come from European Commission President Jean Claude Juncker’s €315 billion investment plan for Europe."
