Sinn Féin is demanding Irish Water provide consumers with locations of where their water supply could be at risk from lead contamination.
Dublin Sinn Féin MEP Lynn Boylan said she was "appalled" to hear that in some cases the pollution levels were found to be ten times above the safe limit.
Ms Boylan said: "Irish Water is refusing to step up and perform tests in other areas, leaving residents to investigate the matter themselves. The financial burden shouldn't fall on households to upgrade the pipes within their homes. This would be unacceptable."
