50 schools throughout Ireland have been shortlisted to take part in a competition which aims to inspire people to make small lifestyle changes to use energy more efficiently and help tackle climate change.
The schools have been asked to put their campaigns into action as part of the One Good Idea project, organised by the Sustainable Energy Authority Ireland (SEAI) and supported by AIB.
Students will now have in-school workshops and mentoring from the One Good Idea teams, who will help the students' progress their campaigns. The top 20 teams will participate in the national final in Dublin Castle in May pitching their ideas to judges in a Dragons' Den style format. Each of the shortlisted teams will receive a cash prize to help their schools continue their commitment to reducing their energy use and combating climate change.
The aim of the project is to increase students' understanding of energy efficiency and climate change by encouraging them to take individual and collective responsibility for tackling these important issues.
