The Catholic Housing Aid Society (CHAS) and Dublin City Council have agreed to let the previous 24 tenants of the newly refurbished Fr. Scully House move back in immediately.
Fr. Scully House in Dublin is a €17m housing development, funded by the Department of Environment, Community and Local Government under the (CAS) Capital Assistance Scheme, but had remained untenanted following its refurbishment.
An agreement is to be reached on the rents as soon as possible.
Minister Kelly said: "I'm glad that common sense prevailed and that rents remain at their original level. To have housing units lying idle in the current environment is simply disgraceful. 76 units for people on the social housing list in Dublin will come on-stream and I trust that Dublin City Council as well as CHAS will make this happen as quickly as possible."
