Dublin City Council has confirmed it is to restart construction of the cycle path in Clontarf.
The Dublin Bay cycle path is to run from the Wooden Bridge to Causeway Road.
Dublin Sinn Féin Councillor Ciarán O'Moore welcomed the plans.
Mr O'Moore said: "The new route will comply with environmental regulations while providing cyclists with a safer path around the bay. The route will be 22km long once completed and will be the one of the longest coastal promenades in Europe."
