Over £550,000 To Be Invested In Rural Development Projects In Omagh

Over £550,000 has been secured from the Rural Development Programme (RDP) to create Village Renewal Development projects in Omagh.

Rural Development Minister Michelle O'Neill recently visited projects in the villages of Gortin, Fintona and Carrickmore, where she met with local communities.

Omagh District Council facilitated the communities of Gortin, Fintona and Carrickmore to develop an integrated village plan for each village. Each of the three projects received a financial investment of up to £190,000 from Assisting Rural Communities North West (ARC NW) under Axis 3 of the Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development Programme.

Minister O’Neill said: "I am delighted that my Department, through ARC NW, has contributed a substantial capital investment to complete the projects in Gortin, Fintona and Carrickmore. It’s evident that the partnership approach of the local council working closely with communities, businesses and Government Departments, is the model which brings most benefit to delivering actions identified in village plans."
