The Green Party has hit out at the Government for failing to pick the green initiatives introduced by them.
The Green Financial Services Centre was launched in 2011 and had the potential to make Ireland a centre of ethical financial services, according to the party.
Green Party leader Eamon Ryan said: "The new financial services strategy launched yesterday contains 30 action points, but not one of them relates to promoting a more sustainable financial industry.
"The work we did on the Green IFSC demonstrated that there were huge opportunities in promoting Ireland as a centre for carbon trading, clean technology project finance, sustainable funds and other innovative financial opportunities. Fine Gael and Labour have clearly decided to target the type of irresponsible financial industries that fly in the face of the green finance capital we were poised to become.
"We will now miss out not just on the jobs and revenue that would have come to the state, but also on the green branding that has such potential for Ireland."
