Significant progress is being made with ongoing restoration works at Altamont Gardens in County Carlow.
The gardens were bequeathed to the State in 1999 upon the death of Mrs Corona North and restoration and maintenance continues under the stewardship of the Office of Public Works (OPW).
A focal point is Altamont House which is located in the midst of the gardens and considerable maintenance and remedial works are ongoing.
Design work is at the advanced stage for the new tearooms and planning permission is expected to be submitted soon.
