Transport NI has completed work to improve road safety outside a school in L'Derry.
The firm repainted road markings on both sides of Racecourse Road outside St Patrick's Primary School in Pennyburn.
SDLP Councillor Brian Tierney welcomed the work and said the road markings should keep passing vehicles away from the school gate.
He said: "I, and my party colleague, Councillor Angela Dobbins and representatives from the office of Colum Eastwood MLA, attended a site meeting with the school's principal and Transport NI officials a few months back. We also heard from parents and staff who had grave concerns about safety outside the school.
"I am pleased to see this work being carried out and I would appeal to all motorists to abide by the rules of the road and respect the road markings. These markings are there for a reason and it is very important that vehicles are kept back from the school gates as they can impair the views of both oncoming motorists and children attempting to cross the road."
