Applegreen has announced plans to develop a new facility at the former Cemex and Donnelly Mirrors site in Naas.

The building is expected to include a garage forecourt, central office space and a research and training facility.

Fianna Fail Councillor Lawless welcomed the plans and said he has been seeking progress on the site for some time.

Cllr Lawless has repeatedly raised the matter at Council over the past twelve months. At the January meeting of the Naas Area Committee, Cllr Lawless tabled a motion seeking action on the site to both clean up its appearance and invite new development as he said it was becoming an eye sore for the approach to Naas and was not the right image to present to visitors to the town.

Cllr Lawless has discussed the latest proposals in detail with the Applegreen company and has also received assurances the development would not impact negatively upon the town centre but rather would provide an economic stimulus to Naas town and to the whole region with up to 400 new jobs boosting the local economy.
