The deadline for registering with Irish Water is midnight tonight, 30 June.
To be eligible for the Government's €100 Water Conservation Grant households must register today. Those who register will receive letters from the Department of Social Protection in late August or September with details on how to apply for the grant.
Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government, Alan Kelly TD, said: "One of the main objectives of the Government's water sector reforms has been to increase conservation including through reducing leakage. Some 6% of all water Irish Water produces is lost through leakage in customers' homes. All households can play their part in conserving water.
"As well as funding Irish Water's 'first fix' scheme, the Government is providing a water conservation grant for all principal private dwellings – customers and non-customers alike – that register with Irish Water. The more households conserve water or reduce leakage, the lower their bills will be, with resulting benefits for the protection of our environment."
