A farmer has been given an absolute discharge for a pollution offence at Ballymena Magistrates' Court.
On 5 February 2014, Water Quality Inspectors, acting on behalf of the Northern Ireland Environment Agency, inspected a waterway approximately 70 metres south of the Frosses Pines and observed heavy fungal growth present on the bed of the waterway and detected an agricultural odour.
The polluting discharge was traced to farm premises owned by John Adams. The length of waterway impacted by the discharge was approximately 1.5 miles.
Mr Adams, from Old Frosses Road, Cloghmills, was found guilty for making a polluting discharge to a waterway.
A sample taken at the time of the incident confirmed that the discharge contained poisonous, noxious or polluting matter which was potentially harmful to fish life in the receiving waterway.
