A new chairperson has been appointed to the public water forum.

Minister for Environment, Community and Local Government, Alan Kelly TD, announced that he was appointing Dr Tom Collins to take up the post.

The forum is designed to represent the interests of domestic and non-domestic users of the water system and will contain a cross-section of sectoral representation from consumer bodies, housing bodies and other interest groups.

Dr Collins is the Chairperson of the governing body of Dublin Institute of Technology and Chairperson of the governing body of the Institute of Technology, Blanchardstown.
