Facebook has been granted planning permission for a €200 million data centre in Co Meath.
The data centre campus will be developed in two phases over ten years, located on a landscaped 220 acre site in Clonee.
Approval was granted by Meath County Council.
County council chairman Brian Fitzgerald welcomed the news.
He said: "This is the best news story that I have seen in Co Meath in relation to industrial development in my 30 years on the council."
Councillor Fitzgerald added he hopes the news will promote the county as an employment base and encourage further foreign investment.
However, the grant of permission is not yet final as objections can still be made to An Bord Pleanala.
Facebook has a separate planning application with An Bord Pleanala for a new 220kV substation to allow it connect to the national grid at Clonee.
