Antrim and Newtownabbey Council is calling on the local community to get involved in planning decisions for the area.
Councillor Roderick Swann, Chairperson of the Council's Planning Committee, said with the bulk of planning powers now in the control of the Council, this is bringing decision-making closer to local people.
Councillor Swann said: "The Council's Planning section has prepared a Draft Statement of Community Involvement which sets out how we propose to engage with the community.
"We believe that engagement is an essential part of the planning process both for today and to assist in directing our visions for the future of the Borough.
"In particular, as we take forward a new Plan for the Borough, we want to make sure that everyone has the opportunity to have a say in how we should shape our area in the future."
A series of community engagement drop-in sessions are taking place during September to gain feedback on the Council's draft proposals for involving the community.
