Irish Water has announced it is pushing ahead with emergency watermains rehabilitation works in Co Mayo.
A meeting took place in Ballina on Thursday, 17 September, with representatives from Irish Water, Mayo County Council, elected representatives and Ballina Chamber of Commerce to discuss the works.
Sean Corrigan, Regional Information Officer for the North and West at Irish Water said: "We welcome the input of the Ballina Chamber of Commerce and the elected representatives who attended the meeting. This is a very important project for Ballina and Irish Water is delighted to have been able to fast track the works. In recent months Irish Water has also been able to replace 27,000 metres of watermains in the surrounding areas of Ballina which, combined with this project, will ensure a safe and secure water supply for the town."
