Major development plans at Croke Park in Dublin have been agreed.

Dublin City Council and Croke Park agreed a plan for new social housing to be built and for Croke Villas to be redeveloped.

Sinn Féin's Dublin Central TD Mary Lou McDonald welcomed the agreement.

She said: "This investment is long overdue and it will regenerate a community that has been neglected for years.

"There will also be a main entrance into Croke Park for games and events which will ease the inconvenience for residents living in the surrounding area.

"The provision of a sports complex will be an asset for the local area and offers a great facility for local people and local youth clubs.

"I am hoping that the work on this project will commence without further delay."
