A total of 100 new social homes are to be developed in Clondalkin, Dublin.
The Corkagh Grange houses will be part of a public private partnership (PPP) programme which is part of the Government's Housing Strategy.
Dublin Mid-West Labour Party Joanna Tuffy TD welcomed the announcement.
Deputy Tuffy said: "One of the most important issues the Government and Local Authorities need to address is the lack of social houses for families and individuals on the housing list. The houses proposed for Clondalkin and Balgaddy will mean that hundreds of applicants will be housed and that families and individuals who are on the waiting list will see light at the end of the tunnel."
