Labour TD for Dublin Central Joe Costello has welcomed the announcement that the Bridewell Garda Station in Dublin is to undergo a major refurbishment.

The work is part of the new Garda Siochana Building & Refurbishment Programme 2016 – 2021.

Mr Costello said: "The refurbishment will enhance the existing policing service in our local community, and it should be something we can be proud of when the work is completed.

"Overall the investment will allow us to provide new stations and modernise older ones, ensuring we have a 21st century network of Garda stations that are critical to delivering an effective policing service and to tackling crime.
