Electric Ireland Launches Smarter Pay As You Go Electricity

Electric Ireland has announced the launch of its Smarter Pay As You Go electricity.

Electric Ireland customers will now be able to monitor their electricity costs and usage on a free in-home monitor.

The new portable monitor, available for Smarter Pay As You Go customers, shows how much electricity your household is using.

Both monitor and installation are free, and new customers will receive a €20 free top up.

Paul Stapleton, General Manager, Electric Ireland said: "This is effectively the first 'smart meter' in the market as it allows automatic top-up payments and provides customers with real-time information on their electricity usage, allowing customers to monitor their energy usage trends over time, and even on a half hour by half hour basis. This new service is a result of listening to our customers who want better understanding and more control over their energy usage, so we are thrilled to introduce this great new product to Ireland."
