Homeless charity Focus Ireland and Bord Gáis Energy have announced a three year partnership deal to help families affected by the housing crisis in Ireland.
The energy firm is to invest £1.2 million to provide support directly to families at risk, and a programme to raise awareness of the factors leading to family homelessness.
Eddy Collier, Chief Executive Officer with Bord Gáis Energy said: "The spectre of homelessness is increasingly real. The whole Bord Gáis Energy team is putting its weight behind financial and practical support to help families, even before they lose their homes, and that is why we are announcing today a multi-year partnership with Focus Ireland. The work Focus Ireland does is exceptional, and we are delighted to be able to help them expand what they do for those most in need."
The funding will be paid in quarterly installments and the teams from Bord Gáis Energy and Focus Ireland are creating targets and programme areas that will provide both immediate and longer term support to end family homelessness.
