Inmates in Maghaberry prison in L'Derry have been making specialist furniture and equipment for a special needs school in Lisburn.
Reading easels, miniature chairs and tables and a sensory frame for wheelchair-bound kids have been developed in the prison's Donard Gardens workshop for Parkview Special School at Brokerstown Road.
Workshop Manager David Strain said: "The project with Parkview Special School came about as a result of a visit by Principal James Curran to Maghaberry.
"He was especially impressed with the work we do at Donard and asked if we could help out in creating a walkway in a wooded area at the school where the children could get close to nature. It developed from there, and we were able to provide bird boxes, insect farms and planters.
"Since then we've also made reading easels, miniature chairs and tables and special sensory frames for kids who are in a wheelchairs."
