Unauthorised Waste Deposits Discovered In Co Tyrone

Unauthorised waste deposits have been found by the Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA) in Co Tyrone.

The discovery was made following two separate operations in the Galbally area on Monday.

The waste uncovered was on private land and was both buried and surface deposited. The majority of waste uncovered was commercial and household mixed waste.

NIEA is working to determine the precise volumes of waste and to identify who is responsible for its production, transport and deposit and where evidence is available this will be presented to the Public Prosecution Service.

An NIEA spokesman said: "Anyone who has information about the illegal transport or deposit of waste should contact the NIEA Environmental Crime unit on 028 9056 9458 or by e-mail Any information provided will be treated confidentially."
