A temporary ban has been placed on roadworks in Belfast and Lisburn over the Christmas period.
Transport Minister Michelle McIlveen said the halt will come into effect from today, 30 November, until 04 January.
She said: "This voluntary arrangement between TransportNI and the utility companies will place a temporary ban on all planned road works on the main routes in Belfast and Lisburn, except for works which are unavoidable.
"This should help the travelling public during the run-up to Christmas, which is the busiest traffic period of the year and I would like to thank the utilities, who have all fully co-operated with this initiative."
Andrew Irvine, Belfast City Centre Management Company, said: "Shoppers and traders of Belfast will greatly benefit from this initiative. The city has so much to offer with its new world class city centre pavements and public art, as well spectacular Christmas lighting and Christmas events such as the Continental Market."
