Shell Corrib Tunnel In Co Mayo Wins Prestigious Award

The Shell Corrib Tunnel in County Mayo has scooped a prestigious award in Switzerland.

Developed by BAM Civil and its sister firm Wayss & Freytagg, the tunnel was awarded the Environmental Initiative of the Year accolade at the International Tunnelling Association Awards 2015.

The 4.9km TBM tunnel was constructed in a way that minimised and mitigated the potential environmental impact of the route under Sruwaddacon Bay.
