Around 6,000 Irish Water Customers Affected By Boil Water Notice

A boil water notice has been placed on the Bundoran Water treatment plant in Co Donegal affecting around 6,000 Irish Water customers.

Following heavy rain over the last 36 hours from Storm Desmond, water levels at Lough Melvin have risen to an unprecedented level and as a result breached flood defences around the Bundoran Water Treatment Plant.

ESB has disconnected mains power as a safety precaution.

Water was turned off to sections of the Bundoran network and other parts were supplied from an alternative source to conserve supply. Further interruptions will occur from 2pm today, 07 December, and will affect the entire Bundoran supply area.
